I decided to become a cardiologist while studying electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I was interested in the chance to apply engineering principles to help patients with heart disease.

And a Fascination with the Heart

When I was in medical school, I was fascinated by the possibility of abnormalities of the heart's function as a pump affecting the quality of individuals' lives. Since then, I have studied and researched this relationship to further understand what can be done to cure heart disease.
